-- If the custodial parent remarries or lives with a partner of for at least "X" years, support payments from non-custodial parent should be greatly reduced/eliminated. There is now a second parental figure in the child's home, and two parents is in the best interest of the child. This will alleviate the financial burden on the non-custodial parent.

--After custody has been established, the custodial parent has five years to pursue child-support. The non-custodial parent has no financial obligation thereafter those five years, starting from the moment of a judges' signature of custody. The custodial parent has been able to care for the child for these five years, why would they need support now?

--The putative father should have the right to submit to the judge that they have or may have gotten a woman pregnant, and wish to prevent an abortion attempt by the mother. Pending DNA after the putative fathers request is accepted, should have the right to put a stop on any abortion attempt by the mother.

--If the court's prime directive is to serve the best interests of the child, then each and every single custody negotiation should be allowed to proceed: financial capability of either party should be over-looked, and every single parent and child should be allowed their day in court. No being turned down or away by pro-bono or legal services. Investigation of every born child begins immediately following every single birth.

--Amount of time of visitation equals the amount of child support payment. Someone I know pays 400$ a month, and sees his son only eight days out of a month.

I am signing because my boyfriend recently went through a custody case in which his ex was given full custody just because they were never married. She constantly calls him asking for more money, he is ahead in child support, and when he says no calls him every name in the book in front of his son. there was no custody investigation, no psychological evaluation, nothing. the court basically said you're lucky to see your child at all. his son absolutly loves and adores his father and now that she found another sucker to marry her shes moving and telling my boyfriend that his son has a new role model and my boyfriend will never be part of his sons life. He raised his son for the first 3 years of his life and now they are ripped apart like the relationship never existed. How is that the best thing for the child?
